about
About this Track:
Life is a continuous cycle of setting goals, accomplishing them, and then immediately looking for the next step/milestone/achievement to reach and conquer. This can be a positive thing on the lifelong journey to self growth and improvement, but can become much more sinister when those in positions of power try to leverage your goals in order to control you.
Another Level was heavily inspired by NXIVM - a sexual slavery cult that lured people in under the guise of their personal and professional “Executive Success” seminars. The track begins with booming, roomy drums and then pulls into a tight, crisp, and punchy soundscape when the rest of the band kicks in. In the last chorus you’ll hear all four band members' individual voices overlapping and intersecting - representing the many voices of inner turmoil when you realize you got more than you bargained for in a deal with the ‘Devil’.
lyrics
Lyrics:
Saw a ship on the horizon
Is it real or an illusion?
I’m running out of time I’m running out of my mind
You think you’re the answer I can’t find.
You take my time you take my money
Lure me in with your milk and honey
Careful, careful another level Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah
Want the shirt off of my back? (I want it all)
Pull my heart from my rib rack (I want it all)
Any parts to salvage? Anything left? (I want it all)
Make a bet and I’ll show you my best work yet.
You take my time you take my money
Lure me in with your milk and honey
Careful, careful another level Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah
You take my money and you take my time -
you hold the key to all my crimes
Careful there’s another level Ah Ah Ah Ah
Deal with God, deal with the Devil - take it up another level
Deal with the Devil, deal with God - contract feels a little flawed
Deal with God, deal with the Devil - sweaty palms, knees tremble
Deal with the Devil, deal with God - contract feels a little flawed.
You take my time you take my money Lure me in with your milk and honey
(I’m running out of time I’m running out of my mind) (I want it all)
Careful, careful another level Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah
(I’m running out of time I’m running out of my mind) (I want it all)
You take my money and you take my time -
you hold the key to all my crimes
(I’m running out of time I’m running out of my mind) (I want it all)
Careful there’s another level Ah Ah Ah Ah

Embodying the energy & ferocity of their animal namesake, Hyaenas is a new Indie Rock/Synth Pop band taking the scene by
storm.
With fun, catchy hooks, their songs are written through a queer feminist lens - exploring meaningful themes from acceptance to vigilance, celebrating a love of nature, self worth, and social justice.
