about

About this Track:
With homage to Alice & Wonderland and The Pied Piper, White Rabbit is a haunting song about depression (the fourth stage in the cycle of grief) and the search for truth & meaning. Societal pressures to fit into “the norms” can cause feelings of inadequacy, but the song assures what works for others may not work for you (or vice versa) - and that’s okay! White Rabbit is saturated with emotive harmonies, stripped down sampled drums, soul-stirring lead vocals, and ethereal analog synth. It is moody but groovy, sparse but complex.

lyrics

Lyrics:
I want to start a fire in you.

The smoke is dancing like white rabbits entrancing you to follow through.
Down we go the rabbit hole,
Watching everything unfold -
Stop holding on and start the fire.

She’ll sing to you alluring songs, the rats and children follow along -
Take you down by the river.
Driftwood in a pile, drifting heart and a shifty smile -
Send a smoke signal from the fire.

Things are not always what they seem
I’m spending all my time deciding what does this all mean?
‘Cause it don’t look the same to you as it does for me
So don’t go chasing rabbits chase your dreams.

The darkest days will always clear
Fill up the room with salty tears and swim to the shoreline.
Her own gospel won’t save your soul -
Take back the power and control
Grab the shovel spade and dig her grave.
